I am pleased to say that after many weeks of busy activity the pace of parish life has slowed a little bit during the first two weeks of the year. There is still a lot to tell you though!
Firstly this Sunday 13th January is our Family Service at 10am. If you are planning to come to it please could you bring one of your favourite presents from Christmas that is easily transportable and will not get in the way of the person you are sitting next to. I am really aiming this request at young people but if you are an adult you are welcome to bring your favourite "reasonable sized" gift too. Bringing your gift means you may be asked to explain why you chose that gift as one of your favourite gifts. NB I say "one of". I realise it is a Christian attitude to see all gifts as equally valuable and all donors as equally appreciated.
We will be looking at the gift of Baptism as part of the service and renewing our Baptism vows.
Secondly, quite soon, we will be celebrating the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. Here are the full details:
SACRED SPACE
This month will be on Monday January 28th from 8pm to 9pm. Please bring a torch. The church is lit by candles and quiet background music is played. There will be incense of this occasion.
I will publish the dates for the rest of the year when I send out the February Xtra.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR GENEROSITY

Total for Catching Lives - £1028.69 was given through various collections over the Christmas period. More was given to this project as we always have an additional special collection at Carols with Whitstable Brass specially for Catching Lives.

Usually All Saints does keep a proportion of its Christmas collections to help pay its running costs but due to the receipt of legacies this year and next we decided to give our Christmas collections away this year. Thank you to all who have given. We are delighted to support these projects through your generosity.

An Inclusive Church event at St Stephen’s Canterbury Saturday 16th February 2019 Midday to 5 pm
God welcomes us all, whatever our strengths and weaknesses, our abilities and limitations and uses them to advance the Kingdom. Churches are not always so good at this, often unwittingly making people feel excluded. In this study afternoon the experts in this field – people who have various limitations – will share with us their experiences of being included and excluded in church. In this light we will discuss what we can do practically to make our churches more welcoming to all and how we can all benefit from the gifts people with disabilities have to offer. The day will start by sharing a light lunch and end by sharing the Eucharist.
No charge but please book a place by emailing petertoon@aol.com for catering purposes
