Xtra August 2018

To find out about our church, including contact details, service times, and location and much besides visit our website www.allsaintswhitstable.com

Dear all

I do hope you are very well and are managing to cope in this stifling heat!

Here is our newsletter for August.

Before I list events, please can I bring to your attention that the Boot Fair is taking place at Church Street playing fields this coming weekend, 28th and 29th July  . If you are coming to church this weekend, please would you leave the church car parks to those who find walking long distances difficult, and park in a neighbouring street if at all possible. We have operated this system for many years. It does not apply to those who attend the 8am service. There are a number of streets within easy walking distance of the church including those that are on the other side of the Crab and Winkle path via the churchyard.

THE BLESSING OF THE WATERS service takes place on Thursday 26th July at 6.45pm at Reeves Beach (between the Horsebridge Centre and the Harbour). It is organised by the Association of the Men of Kent and Kentish Men. Speaker this year is Geoff Court, Pioneer Minister at St Peter's, Whitstable. Please do come to this event, though there is some doubt that I shall actually be able to get to the water's edge as it is extremely low tide at that time!

Denise Blaskett our Reader in training is now officially our Reader having completed her training and we will be specially celebrating this fact with a commissioning prayer at our 10am service on Sunday August 5th. Please do come to the service if you can. We will also be praying for those pastoral assistants who have recently been trained to take out the Sacrament to people's homes.

PICNIC EUCHARIST
SUNDAY 12 AUGUST 2018
VICARAGE GARDEN
(in hall if wet!)
11.30 am – 1.00 pm
As well as bringing your own garden chair, picnic and drink together with glasses/plates/cutlery come prepared to share with someone who may not have brought a picnic with them.
(There will the usual BCP service in church at 8.00 am that day but not a 10 am service.)

Over the summer there are two events being planned by Elena Markova our children and families minister. They are as follows:

These following pictures were designed by Elena and tell you about our church youth work.

ADVENTURERS is our Sunday School club, which welcomes children of all ages. We learn about God’s Love and explore God’s Kingdom through child friendly Bible stories, art, craft, singing and tones of imagination and creativity. Children come into church with their families for 10am start.

HOLYBALLOO is our afterschool club that we run every Thursday 3.15 to 4.15 pm, during term time. We make craft, play games, have snacks and learn about God and His people through child-friendly Bible film stories. Parents stay in and enjoy a good catch up and a hot drink.

At All Saints Church, we also have a JUNIOR CHOIR  meeting for rehearsals every Thursday afternoon (term time) 5.20 - 6 pm. Our choir mistress selects a variety of well-loved upbeat songs to Christian lyrics, which the children enjoy to sing and perform. If you love singing, come and join in the fun!

Starting this September is our new Parent & Toddler (Age 0-4) Nursery Rhyme Play Group TINY SINGERS  . We will be meeting every Wednesday from 9.30 am to 11.00 am during term time. We will sing, play and enjoy delicious refreshments together - healthy fruit snacks for all toddlers and a relaxing hot beverage/biscuit and a friendly chat for their grownups. We will share parenting tips and support one another on our journeying together through parenthood. Our first session will be on 5th Sep 2018. All welcome!

Please note, while all clubs and groups support an Anglican Christian Ethos, we are equally an all-inclusive domain, in which we welcome and minister to all – Christians, people of other faiths as well as people of no particular religious affiliation.
