Welcome to our May Xtra! As usual there is a lot of news to communicate with you !
NEWS OF THE TEAM
NEW TEAM RECTOR FOR WHITSTABLE TEAM MINISTRY
Many congratulations to Rev Rachel Webbley who has been appointed as the Team Rector for the Whitstable Team parish.
Rachel will continue in her role at St Alphege Whitstable at the same time. I will continue as Team Vicar of All Saints and St Peter's and Rev David Vannerley will continue as Team Vicar of St John's Swalecliffe. A vacancy for a Team Vicar currently exists at St Alphege, Seasalter, which will be advertised in due course.
Being "Team Rector" means you are the lead minister of the Team.

Will you please pray for Rachel as she steps into this role, a role that had been previously filled by Canon Steve Coneys before he moved to a new role for the Diocese last September. I am sure we have a lot to look forward to under her leadership.
Teams are good and the last 34 years in Whitstable has shown how successfully a Team Ministry can work together. I am sure the future will be just as bright as we continue to do this.

I was also hoping to announce the new Children and Families minister for All Saints through Xtra but I am afraid this has been delayed for paperwork reasons. I am hoping that I will be in a position to do so for the June edition.
This coming Sunday 13th May is our Family Communion service at 10am. I will be giving the All-Age talk at this service. It would be great to see you there if you can make it!

CHRISTIAN AID
CHRISTIAN AID WEEK
13 – 20 MAY 2018
Soon it will be Christian Aid Week and, we still need 8 more collectors to cover the
roads allocated to All Saints’ Church.
If you have an evening free, during Christian Aid week, to do this very
worthwhile collection, it would be much appreciated – please contact us. Most of our neighbours are
very friendly and many will contribute to this worthy cause to help some of the
poorest people develop their land in order to produce the basic essentials of
life! Many thanks to our regular collectors who have volunteered once
again.
There is a united service at St John’s
Methodist church to launch Christian Aid on Sunday 13 May at 6.00 pm
Email Simon at tillotsons@gmail.com and he will pass on your offer to the organisers
SINGING FOR FUN AND HEALTH
This takes place on the third Wednesday of each month at 2.30pm to 4pm at All Saints Church hall. This is great fun - a chance to singalong to a mixture of all sorts of songs in a relaxed setting in the hall with tea, coffee and cake.
CAMEO
A group that meets every Monday in the Church hall from 2pm to 3.30pm, apart from Bank Holidays. Cameo stands for Come And Meet Each Other. It is a friendly group where you can come and chat and make new friends.

Please consider coming to a mid week Communion service where we pray for people and are strengthened for our spiritual journey.
Thursdays at 10am every week at All Saints Church.
HOLYBALLOO
Holyballoo is the name of our after school club for parents/guardians and children of any age. It takes place in the church hall. We have recently purchased some new games for the children and we have some exciting craft. There is usually a short Christian video and short message as part of the afternoon. The parents and guardians enjoy catching up with each other over a cup of tea or coffee.
Sorry - no unaccompanied children.
There is no charge for Holyballoo. It takes place on Thursdays in term time from 3.15pm to 4.15pm at All Saints church hall.
Just come along.
SACRED SPACE
The dates for Sacred Space have now been organised. Please click on the poster to see if in large format on your computer screen.
COMMUNITY WARDROBE
To support local families cope with the cost of school uniform, various churches in Whitstable are starting a Community Wardrobe project this summer: It’s a bit like a Foodbank, but with school uniform instead!
How can you help?
- Would you be happy to wash, mend and / or iron the school uniform that is donated? Do get in touch.
- Do you have any uniform that you can donate? Look out for one of the ‘Community wardrobe’ bins that will soon be available in our churches.
- Please spread the word and also pray for this project.
More information will soon be available, and to find out more here’s a link to one nearby: http://www.kentonline.co.uk/ sittingbourne/news/school- uniform-gifts-are-meeting- 131324
Message from Jo Springthorpe
I am collecting old/unused analogue and digital hearing aids to send to a charity called Sound Seekers. This charity reconditions hearing aids and sends them to clinics and hospitals in Malawi, Zambia, The Gambia, Sierra Leone and Cameroon to give the gift of hearing to those who would otherwise struggle with hearing loss. Hearing aids can be given to Jo Springthorpe 01227 219853. Thanks.
