Autumn Xtra Newsletter

Dear all

August is soon upon us and apparently there is a heatwave expected this coming weekend - though it is feeling pretty chilly today!

If you have not yet picked up the news, the reminder for this newsletter is now being sent by a new software apparatus called Google Groups. If you would like to be added to this group so that you receive a monthly reminder of this Xtra newsletter please email me at tillotsons@gmail.com. Your email address will be kept confidential and hidden from other group members.

Here are some of the events that are taking place at All Saints in August.

Then there is this....

Also please do remember I am taking part in a sponsored walk to raise money from the Church Organ fund. I do not want to disclose the exact dates of the walk online because of the security threat to the Vicarage if I did this (although my wife Cathy is there it might encourage burglars) so I will not be posting anything online about the walk while I am on it, but I will give a full report afterwards. All I can say is that is sometime soon in August!

If you would like to sponsor me please click on the below link or fill out the sponsorship form in church. The total easily exceeds £1000 now which is great. I am extremely grateful.

Other matters

There will be children's activities during all the normal 10am services in August. Please all assemble in church at 10am as normal. Children and parents will leave at the usual time for the hall.

CHURCH CONCERT
Looking ahead into the September period onwards, there will be a church concert in aid of the Organ Fund on Friday 2nd October in church featuring the Up the Creek Ukele players, Amy and Hannah Parry,  Naomi Ash (now Smith) and Toby Smith (Naomi co-ordinated the music and dance for our Pantomime), All Saints church choir, my own songs (as a singer songwriter)  and one or two more from our congregation (still awaiting confirmation). Tickets will be priced £7 on the door (£6 in advance) and will be on sale from the beginning of September but if you want to reserve your tickets now it would be extremely helpful to help with the administration
Please can you email me at tillotsons@gmail.com if you would like to reserve tickets now and then send a cheque payable to All Saints Whitstable DCC to "Organ Concert Tickets, Church Office, Church Street, Whitstable, CT5 1PG". If you really want to be helpful you could include a stamped addressed envelope but I quite understand if this is difficult.

There is a £4 charge for under 16s (£5 on the door). Only soft drinks will be served in the hall during the interval due to the licensing but you would be welcome to visit the Monument during the interval if you would like a glass of wine or beer!

HARVEST BARN DANCE AND SUPPER AND HARVEST FAMILY SERVICE
This will take place on the weekend of Saturday October 10th in the evening for the Barn Dance and Sunday October 11th at 10am for our Harvest Family Service. More details will follow in future Xtra updates.

PILGRIM COURSE

I am very excited about a new course which will be running on either Tuesday evenings or Wednesday mornings at the Vicarage. To find out details about this please can you visit this link

Film Club
The Film Club is now closed for the summer but the new programme can be found here. Please note we have now pushed the boat out and are having certificate 15 films!

CAMEO (COME AND MEET EACH OTHER)

Cameo meets on Mondays from 2pm to 3.30pm.
It stands for Come And Meet Each Other.
It is basically a time to meet together, chat, drink tea and coffee and eat cakes!
To come to Cameo simply turn up to the Church hall any Monday (except for Bank Holidays)

If other church groups wish to add to this Xtra please email me the text and I will include it here. The Xtra is viewed over a period of weeks and so not everyone sees it at its first publication. Thank you. Please keep the amount of text as short as possible. If you wish to be included in the September Xtra please email me by the fourth Sunday in August and for all future months the same.

Best wishes

Rev Simon Tillotson
