Dear all
I do hope
you are very well and have had a wonderful summer so far! Bearing in mind that
September can often be quite a warm month too. Here is our All Saints
Newsletter for September.
Before I list events, please can I bring
to your attention that the Boot Fair is taking place at Church Street playing
fields on Sunday 26th August . If you are coming to church this weekend,
please would you leave the church car parks to those who find walking long
distances difficult, and park in a neighbouring street if at all possible. We
have operated this system for many years. It does not apply to those who attend
the 8am service. There are a number of streets within easy walking distance of
the church including those that are on the other side of the Crab and Winkle
path via the churchyard.
I appreciate this Xtra newsletter was
only launched late on Saturday afternoon so if you saw this after the event
please do not worry if you parked in the church car park.
One of the main events at All Saints in
September is our Open Afternoon. Here are the details:
I
am particularly pleased that the event will have both secular and church groups
as I have always felt that churches that distance themselves from secular
groups are making a huge mistake. Indeed the secular religious divide is one of
the main reasons for the decline in church attendance throughout our country in
recent years. So please come along, embracing both the secular and the
spiritual, to this special day.
I
would appreciate offers of help setting up this day and representing the church
on the Church Services table. Can you let me know if you can help. Thank
you.
MORE ALL SAINTS NEWS
In September our Family Service will be on Sunday September 9th at 10am. The service will be led by Canon Chris Morgan-Jones and our speaker will be Elena Markova, our Children and Family minister.
However, there is a group for children
every Sunday of the month, as usual, called Adventurers....
ADVENTURERS is
our Sunday School club, which welcomes children of all ages. We learn about
God’s Love and explore God’s Kingdom through child friendly Bible stories, art,
craft, singing and tones of imagination and creativity. Children come into
church with their families for 10am start.
HOLYBALLOO is our
afterschool club that we run every Thursday 3.15 to 4.15 pm, during term time.
We make craft, play games, have snacks and learn about God and His people
through child-friendly Bible film stories.
Parents stay in and enjoy a good catch up and a hot drink.
At All Saints Church, we also have a JUNIOR
CHOIR meeting for rehearsals every Thursday afternoon (term time) 5.20 -
6 pm. Our choir mistress selects a variety of well-loved upbeat songs to
Christian lyrics, which the children enjoy to sing and perform. If you love
singing, come and join in the fun!
Starting this September is our new Parent & Toddler (Age 0-4)
Nursery Rhyme Play Group TINY SINGERS .
We will be meeting every Wednesday from 9.30 am to 11.00 am during term time.
We will sing, play and enjoy delicious refreshments together - healthy fruit
snacks for all toddlers and a relaxing hot beverage/biscuit and a friendly chat
for their grownups. We will share parenting tips and support one another on our
journeying together through parenthood. Our first session will be on 5th
Sep 2018. All welcome!
Please note, while all clubs and groups support an Anglican Christian
Ethos, we are equally an all-inclusive domain, in which we welcome and minister
to all – Christians, people of other faiths as well as people of no particular
religious affiliation.

A UNITED NATIONS SERVICE FOR WORLD PEACE
will be held on SATURDAY 6th October 2018 at 6.30 pm
in the NAVE of CANTERBURY CATHEDRAL
Dear Julia and members of the Churches together in
Whitstable
I am pleased to be able to invite
you and your members to attend our annual service. We would be pleased if
two representatives will take part in the Procession of the Peace
Makers, with an appropriate banner.
We hope to welcome even more young people to our service this year, especially as the youth branch YUNA70 and the University of Kent MUN (Model UN) will be well represented, following their conference Future Wars and How to Prevent Them, earlier in the day.
Please respond to this email with an indication of whether or not you or your colleagues wish to participate in the procession, which will involve being at the Cathedral from 5.30 pm. There will be an opportunity for those in the procession and our UNA members and supporters to register for the afternoon seminar at Kent University, once the new term commences - further details will follow.

toward achieving World Peace. A local representative from the Peace Maker's
procession has been invited to speak within the service.
Please also extend this invitation to
attend the service to your members, their families and friends.
